OBITAURY Maphata Oretha Roberts Huntsman

Maphata Oretha Roberts Huntsman was born unto the union of Murphy D. Roberts Sr. and Bindu Passewe Roberts in Yekepa, Nimba Co., Liberia, and West Africa on December 29, 1962.

She received her secondary education at the Konala Academy in Konala, MaGibi Co., Liberia. In January 1984, Maphata travel to the United States of America to attend the University of New Port in New York. That same year she transferred Prairie View A&M University in Houston, Texas to be close to her sister Nehneh. In 1987, Maphata relocated to Oakland, California were she attended the California State University at Hayward and graduated with a BA in Finance.

After graduating from California State University at Hayward, Maphata married Godwin Alvin Uso, Sr., their union was bless with one child Godwin Alvin Uso, Jr... Maphata found her soul mate in Carlton Blake “Nnamdi” Huntsman; they married a year and a half later in 1999. Their loving union was blessed with two children Christian Alfa Roberts Huntsman and Diamond Victoria Dunbar. She took great pride in her family, always putting God and family first.

In California Maphata established herself as well respected banking professional, working her way up from Line Teller to Vice President/Branch Manger earning many awards and accolades. She worked in the banking industry for many years. She was also a season real estate investor. In 2008 Maphata started a jewelry design business; her designs were reflections of her inner beauty and were sought after. She also was a licensed notary servicing the community.

Maphata parents instilled the importance of a relationship with God at an early age. She accepted Christ at an early age she always called God “Papa God”. She was baptized in the Seven Day Adventist Church and later joined the Saint Augustine Episcopal Church working diligently in many different capacities in the church such as Acolyte, Vestry Board Member, Praise Dancer and Church Choir Member. After marrying “Nnamdi” she followed him to Imani Community Church where she continued her service to the Lord. Working in the Women’s, Feeding, Temple Builders and Ushers Ministries. Maphata was a devout Christian both in word and deed, studying God’s word daily and living it out in the church and the community, she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her father Murphy Roberts, brother Gebbah Roberts and sister Ephemia Musu Roberts.

She is survived by her husband; C. Blake “Nnamdi” Huntsman, her children; Godwin Uso, Jr., Christian Roberts Huntsman, and Diamond Dumbar, her Grandmother Ciatta Passawe, her mother; Bindu Passawe Roberts, Step mother; Lamah K. Roberts, sibling Lydia Roberts, Murphy D. Roberts Jr., Nehneh Bropleh (Paul), Ciatta Davis (Solomon), Varmah Roberts, Catherine Konneh (Siryon), Alpha Roberts (Christiana), Boakai Roberts, Armah Roberts, Mabel Richardson (James), nieces, nephews and host of relatives and friends.
